Hi, I'm Lucy.
Designer, event lover and professional homebody.
La Mí Wí is where deadstock gets a second chance and everyday spaces get a little dopamine hit.
With fewer reasons to go out-out these days, I decided to make staying in the occasion - creating playful, small batch pieces designed to make your home feel like an event. Think bold colour, joyful texture and conversation starters, all made with a sense of humour.
Circular by nature and full of personality, each piece is about bringing moments of joy to everyday occasions.
Joyful
Why deadstock?
Because after years in fast fashion, I realised that the world didn’t need to make more new stuff. It just needed to reimagine what already exists.
My aim is simple. To give forgotten materials a second chance, turning deadstock into dopamine, keeping things circular and helping to reduce what ends up in landfill, one joyful piece at a time.
Circular
What's the point?
Less Waste. More Wow.
Pinpointing the true scale of deadstock fabrics is tricky as there is little requirement for brands to report on unused materials. Research from Circular Sourcing shows just how big the issue really is.
They estimate:
- 21% of manufactured textiles end up as deadstock
- That’s around 26 million tonnes every year worldwide — the equivalent weight of almost 500 Sydney Harbour Bridges
- Deadstock materials are sitting in storage across 85% of Australian fashion and textile businesses
After long periods of stockpiling, much of this unused fabric can end up in landfill, adding to the already huge volumes of clothing and textiles being thrown away. In Australia alone, more than 200,000 tonnes of clothing is sent to landfill every year!
